The mission of Historic Charlotte, Inc. is to actively promote historic preservation
and to encourage, support and coordinate the activities of history and
heritage groups throughout the greater Charlotte region.

Historic Charlotte, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization established in 1991 as the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Preservation Foundation, the charitable affiliate of the Historic Landmarks Commission.

2008 Learning Series, presenting speakers on various history and heritage topics.
Partnering with the Friends of Fourth Ward to form the Joint Committee for the Preservation of Elmwood/Pinewood Cemetery.
Publication of The African American Heritage Tour Brochure: From Slavery to Freedom. Due Spring 2008.
Leaky Roof Fund for historic preservation projects - such as the Lower Providence Community Clubhouse.
Fall 2008 Annual Blast for the Past  - Preservation Awards Ceremony and Silent Auction. 
Partnering with other historic sites and agencies to make a bigger impact in our community via board membership in the Regional History Consortium. http://www.charlotteregionalhistory.org
Developing continuing education courses for attorneys, CPAs and real estate professionals.
Working with the owners of Cedar Grove Plantation House owners and Land for Tomorrow on an "in perpetuity" preservation easement for the house.  The Preservation Easement will be held by Historic Charlotte. 
Historic Preservation advocacy to insure the preservation of Charlotte's historic built environment. Projects include The Barringer Hotel (Hall House) and Spirit Square.
 
Seventh annual Blast for the Past, the Preservation Award and Silent Auction Celebrations. 
Publication of Historic Charlotte: An Illustrated History, a coffee table book highlighting Charlotte's unique history. Text by Dr. Dan Morrill, Consulting Director of the Historic Landmark Commission.
Creation of Historic Charlotte website, linking various History and Heritage sites around Charlotte and the surrounding areas.
Restoration of the Rural Hill Schoolhouse in North Mecklenburg.
Publication of various Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Driving and Walking Tours. Including:  Biddleville, Center City Charlotte, Pinewood-Elmwood Cemetery and Rural Hill Burying Grounds.
Restoration of two houses in Historic North Charlotte.
Renovation of the Ratcliffe-Otterbourg House located at 2100 Randolph Road, home to the Historic Landmarks Commission.
Renovation and sale, with restrictive covenants, of Historic Hand Pharmacy.
In partnership with the Historic Landmarks Commission, acquired and restored two vintage trolley cars, currently in service with The Charlotte Trolley.
Participation in, and financial support of, a comprehensive study/survey of historic buildings and sites from the end of WWII until the mid-1960s.
Preservation of the historic Latta Arcade through negotiated restrictions on future development.
Promotion of the Davis House located on the Campus of Johnson C. Smith University.
