#4 — Old Settlers' Cemetery
Charlotte's first burial ground, the oldest known grave is that of Joel Baldwin who died October 21, 1776. Many prominent citizens are buried here as well as slaves. The City closed the cemetery in 1867, but burials occurred with special permission until 1884. The cemetery has been recently renovated.
